About Us

Planeguard Aviation Group (formerly Planeguard Aircraft Detailing) started out delivering private jet detailing across the UK. We now hold the contract for aircraft wash services on the RAF Mildenhall-based fleet, covering CV-22 Ospreys, KC-135 Stratotankers, and C-130J Hercules aircraft.

The Role

We are recruiting Aircraft Wash Technicians to join our team at Hangar 711, RAF Mildenhall. The role covers the full exterior wash cycle: masking sensitive components prior to washing, executing the wet wash process, applying lubrication at all specified points, and completing the required aircraft forms and maintenance logs to release aircraft back to USAF mission readiness. All work is carried out inside Hangar 711 — no tasks are performed on the flightline. Successful candidates will complete structured online portal training before their start date, with ongoing physical on-site training throughout to support their development in role.

What You'll
Be Doing

  • Complete exterior aircraft washes to contract quality standards within the required 24-hour turnaround
  • Perform post-wash lubrication at all specified points per type-specific schedules
  • Notify the Maintenance Operations Control Centre (MOCC) at the start and end of every wash
  • Run daily FOD walks of the wash facility and surrounding area, plus ongoing FOD awareness during each task
  • Sign work tools in and out through TCMax to ensure security of all equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation in line with applicable Technical Order standards
  • Flag any suspected corrosion, equipment fault, or safety issue immediately to the Site Lead for escalation to the relevant production superintendent
  • Keep Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) to standard and return it to designated storage after each use
  • Follow all RAF Mildenhall site security procedures, including parking and access pass requirements

Who We're
Looking For

  • Comfortable working at height of up to 12 metres in a hangar environment
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of following strict quality and documentation standards
  • Physically fit, as the role involves manual handling and extended periods standing
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, handling, and systems is an advantage — full training is provided
  • Able to obtain authorisation from their commanding officer if currently serving USAF personnel
  • Retiring USAF personnel wishing to reside in the UK may wish to discuss this opportunity with us

Requirements

This is a role on a United States Air Force installation. The following are essential and verified before any offer is confirmed:

  • Must be a US citizen currently based at RAF Lakenheath or RAF Mildenhall
  • Must hold a valid Tier 3 US Secret Clearance. No sponsorship for vetting is available; clearance must be active before the start date

Benefits

  • Access to Base Exchange (BX) and commissary
  • Tax-free on-site installation gas/fuel
  • Flexible working hours
  • Planeguard supplies all required PPE and a structured online training programme covering emergency response, health and safety, airside operations, equipment handling, and wash procedures
