About Us
Previously known as Planeguard Aircraft Detailing, Planeguard Aviation Group is a specialist aviation aviation detailing provider working across private and corporate aviation. We've just secured a contract with the United States Air Force to deliver aircraft washing aviation detailing for their based fleet at RAF Mildenhall — a major step as we grow beyond private aviation and into military and commercial ground aviation detailing.
The Role
This is a great opportunity to get hands-on with some of the most capable aircraft flying in our skies. As an Aircraft Cleaning Technician, you'll be part of the team keeping military aircraft such as the KC-135 Stratotankers, CV-22 Ospreys, and MC-130J Commando IIs mission-ready — working to the same standards set out by the US Air Force maintenance squadrons. You won't be doing this on your own. You'll be one of a close-knit operational team, working alongside others doing the same job, with experienced site managers on hand to prepare and upskill you as you grow. This is a genuine foot in the door of the aviation industry, and an early opportunity with a company specialising in private jet detailing that's growing fast — with future plans spanning aviation detailing, facilities management and engineering.
What You'll
Be Doing
- Reviewing technical documents to know exactly what's needed before you start
- Exterior washing of aircraft using low-pressure techniques and cleaning chemicals, finishing with a water rinse
- Applying lubricant and grease to aircraft components exactly as directed, keeping every part working as it should
- Running safety and quality checks throughout your shift, alongside your site supervisor
- Signing off completed work accurately, in line with military documentation standards
- Working safely at height of up to 12 metres using scissor lifts, once trained
Who We're
Looking For
- Previous members of the armed forces and law enforcement
- People with knowledge in aviation, such as static ports, weapon systems, pitot tubes, antennas, no step zones and heated windshields
- Anyone with detailing experience — the skills may transfer better than you'd think
- Relevant engineering or aircraft maintenance experience
- Already hold UK SC clearance? Great. Don't? No problem — we sponsor you through it
- IPAF licence holders are welcome, but not essential — we'll get you trained
Requirements
This role involves working on a United States Air Force installation. The following are essential and will be checked before any offer is confirmed:
- You must be eligible to obtain and hold a UK SC security clearance (equivalent to US Tier 3 Secret). This involves vetting, including a criminal record and right-to-work verification check. Candidates with convictions relevant to working at an Air Force base will not be eligible
- You must hold a valid UK driving licence with no major endorsements such as DD40, CD30, DG10
- A good understanding of spoken and written English for reading technical documents and completing aircraft maintenance records
- You should live within a reasonable travelling distance of RAF Mildenhall, with reliable transport in place
- To be physically fit and comfortable in cleaning large aircraft, and working at height of up to 12 metres
On-Site
Facilities
You'll be working from our dedicated hangar, with a warm office and breakroom on site to keep you comfortable between tasks. The company will provide monthly breakfasts, free parking and shower facilities on site.
